Oh yes, Bass love 'em, small bluegill are my favorite bait for big largemouth..
Those are nice looking crankbaits, but I prefer the real thing. I just take a short length of line with me to the pond/lake, tie a salmon egg hook to the end. Dip that in the water and the little guys will grab it, no bait required - they're not very bright... take that small sunfish (2" - 4") and run your hook between the tail and the dorsal fin, smack it off the ground (Not too hard, don't want to kill it, just want to make it swim like a dazed, injured fish) and toss it out there....
Even the most jaded and wariest of the big guys will be on that like Rosie O'donnell on a slab of chocolate cake.
Best thing is you'll never run out of bait, and if you get snagged up all you've lost is a hook, as opposed to a $20 lure.
