« on: April 11, 2008, 02:30:29 PM »
Just question noticed my gun shoots left and low with slower velocity rounds.  Anyone know why it going left?  Goes farther left with less velocity..

You never said how much it shoots left, so I am guessing it is not a whole lot. Could be barrel harmonics. The barrel "whips" as a bullet goes down the bore. The muzzle (moves in little circles) can be in a different position (left) when fired at a slower velocity. Different guns have different harmonics. Slim barrels will have more whip than a stiffer barrel. Not sure on this, but I would think a heavier bullet will influence barrel whip more than a lighter bullet and a faster twist rate would too. I have no equipment to measure this, so I am not real positive. Barrel harmonics are real however. Do you have any contact under the barrel? If it is not free floating, there could be forces at work here too, pushing the barrel over to the right more as velocity is increased. So when it is slowed down, it starts creeping to the left. Just my 2 cents worth. Good Luck and Good shooting.

most of mine shoot high and right with higher velocity rounds. I would think thes two observations are related to with the direction of the rifling (left or right) and the velocity (higher or lower)....<><....:)

Going to try LimbSaver® Bull Barrel De-Resonator.  See if it makes difference.

I've not had much experience with the Deresonator, part of the reason for not using it much is when they first came out they were only available in one size and it's a bear to move or remove on a bull barrel, but the bigger bull barrel size made that a moot point. But others here have, Mac cut groups in half on his 270 bolt gun with no other changes, and Cascadedad used one and had great results. ;)
