Moly?
« on: April 11, 2008, 07:40:11 PM »
Bought a couple of guns last week, also got a bunch of ammo, most of it is moly coated. I haven't really kept up on the moly debate, I'm guessing it wasn't all it was supposed to be and it looks like both guns might havehad lots of moly in the bore. How's the best way to tell and has anybody had any luck getting it out?

Thanks, Jim

Jim

The best way i have found to remove the moly is with a foaming cleaner like Wipe Out , let it set over night then scrub the heck out of it with a bore brush , depending on how much build up you have it may take a time or 2 to get it all out .

I am not a big fan of the moly coatings , some swear by it , another thing don't shoot non-moly bullets till you clean the bore , makes a Hell of a mess .  >:(  and your acc will go down hill fast .

The pro's of molly don't out weigh the con's in my opinion. I don't see where I'll gain a thing from it.   KN
