P220 caliber conversion
« on: April 13, 2008, 07:44:11 PM »
Is it possible to convert a Sig P220 to another caliber, maybe 357 Sig??  If so, who handles the necessary parts?

I am not aware of any such change.  It seem to me that it would be far moire economical to just purchase a 239 and have the flexibility of going from a .357 Sig to .40 S&W simply by changing the barrel.  A police trad in model 239 can be had at a very reasonable price right now, just check J & G Sales or CNDD.

I don't think you can go to 40 S&W as a calier or 357 Sig as they have not made the 220 in that caliber and there is no block plate or mag for that caliber.  You could go to 38 Super.  357 Sig and 38 super are both 9mm's with different cases. the 357 sig is just a little faster than the 38 super. They did make the 220 in 38 super and there are blocks, barrels, and mags available.  The block is the bolt face and it is held in by two pins on older models and can be changed but not often as the two pins get worn out after removing them.
Why do you want to change it?  And what caliber is it now?
The 220 was made in 9mm, 38 super, and 45 ACP that I know of and was imported by Browning as the BDA and it has two mag versions.  American and European.  The european is on the heel of the gun and the American has the push button just behind the trigger guard.

I'm a pretty big Sig Fan and at 350 for the kit I'd get another Browning Buckmark than a conversion kit.
The 250 mark is about tops for the 22 conversion kits for me.

Yea there are a few different people making conversion kits for the 1911.  And I think 2 making them for the beretta and the glocks but no one but sig makes them for sig and they are really proud of their units.  It's hard to be the last one in and be the most expensive.
If I had a 1911, I would probably have one of the Kimber uppers for it.  I have toyed with the idea of building up a 22 only
