Mama is going to be mad at me
« on: April 15, 2008, 06:03:05 AM »
Was killing some time this morning waiting for the little one to get out of kindergarden , so i stoped by the local MC Sports to look around and low and behold there was a new 22 mag Sportster with scope mount sitting in the rack for $89 + tax , didn't have the whole amount with me .

Long story short , put $20 down to hold it till friday .  ;D  Maybe I'll be able to sneek it in before she sees it .  ;)

I now have grown and married kids looking for guns for me without telling their mom.  I think they figure they will end up with it at one time or another.  Or at least they'll get to shoot it with dad buying the gun and ammo.  I think I have 3 rifles currently on "LOAN" to some of my kids.  Another son was asking about "borrowing" a 20 ga. so my grandson could try it.  How can I turn down a request like that?  More grandchildren just means i need to be fair to all of them and have enough guns to go around   ::)

That's cool though. My dad grew up in the U. P. and by the time I came around he was tired of hunting and only fished when we went on vacation. So there are no guns from grandpa or dad for that matter. I don't know how I ended up with the hunting bug but I got it pretty bad and I think being able to hunt with a gun that was handed down from grandpa to dad to me would be one of the best things ever. I guess I'm just nostalgic but every time I took it out they would be with me in the field.

My dad wasn't into hunting or fishing but he did have a very cheap .22 single shot that a neighbor had given him on his 14th b-day I think.  I remember shooting it only a couple of times growing up.  But dad did give it to me after I was married.  The chamber is worn and the sights aren't very good.  One time I actually saw a similar one in a pawn shop for $50.  But I have shot it quite a bit.  And I have now passed it on to my oldest son.  My father in law had given my 2 oldest boys a used shotgun when they turned 16yo.  After he passed away we found enough other older shotguns so that each of my kids has a shotgun from their grandpa.  So it was fairly easy to convince my wife to continue the tradition.  She just doesn't know that I am planning on 20 to 30 grandkids  ;)

I have been thinking of buying one of those in .22 Mag.  That sounds like a great price! The problem I'm having is that no one around here seems to stock them. I think I'll get one special ordered, before the changes at H&R start taking place.  How does yours shoot?
