Range Report-336RC
« on: April 16, 2008, 03:44:58 PM »
Hey Bill! Just got back after shooting the rifle first time. But before I shot it, I completely disassembled it, cleaned & lubed it, & gave the bore a good scrubbing. It didn't look that bad, but there can be stuff in there you can't see, so I scrubbed it out to where I thought it should be. I also made some repairs to the stock with a little Gorilla glue, stripped, sanded, & refinished it & took her out for shakedown. I am absolutely amazed, no, SCARED, by its accuracy!!! It was a VERY windy day. I started at 25yds, off-hand with my handloads.....three in the bulls-eye! Stepped back to 50yds, again, off-hand, & three MORE in the bulls-eye! I think it prefers the 200s to the 180s. The trigger breaks clean & crisp. It's without doubt the most accurate lever-action rifle I've ever shot, at least to 50yds, so far. Next session, off the bench at 100. Thanx, Bill, now I know why my brother brags on his .30-30 so much. jd45
