MagKor Black Mag 3 Again Available

If Magkor thinks that they can compete with Blackhorn 209 at the same price I think they might be in a losing situation. The only saving part for Black Mag'3 is that it can be ignited with a #11 percussion cap which Blackhorn 209 will not. Maybe the sidelock guys will still buy BM3 if they want a relatively low residue type of powder. American Pioneer and Goex Pinnacle will also function about the same and I have not seen prices for either of them lately. Magkor sitll has distribution problems from what I see as I can never find it at any stores.

You can ignite Blackhorn 209 with #11's. On another site I read it worked just fine with all ignition systems. They are testing corrosion and I think it has been a little over three weeks and no rust. If I can find the link Ill give it to you. Busta also has the link and knows more about it than I do as he tested it also.

I liked Black Mag'3 for saboted bullets, but never did like it for conicals. I think they are a little too late to try to resurect themselves now that Blackhorn 209 is out I wouldn't give you a nickel for a bottle of Black Mag'3.

I tried one shot out of my White Thunder 12 ga with 80 gr Blackhorn 209 and a #11 (RWS 1075 plus) cap. It was a delayed/hang fire and the results were not good. I watched the wad go very slowly and the shot never made it to the target. You need a good sealing bullet and my shotcup with 3 styrofoam overshot wads were not going to cut it. It might be possible to get it lit off with a tight fitting sabot. I also shot my NEF Huntsman with the .25 ACP plug using CCI 400 standard small rifle primers, excellent ignition.

Yes, I think if you believe that BH209 will work in your #11 primer rifle you will be somewhat disappointed. Most have not had good results with it in those rifles. In fact there are some 209 primer rifles that have some problems including my brand new Knight Rolling Block (sob sob).

I can attest to the fact that BH-209 will ignite very well with a 25acp ignition... I did use small rifle Mag Primers.  I also can tell you that I personally did get some hangfires with a regular small rifle primer- not always but on occasion...
