They will do it for $55.95  I've been thinking about it myself.

I've had several done over the years. It's a good conversion, well worth the cost.

What is the usual turn around time for having this done?

The last one I had done was about 4-5 years ago. It took a couple of weeks, including there & back, at that time.

Being a guy who has to many contenders and has had the modification to easy open done I am speaking as a collector not a shooter here
I will never have another done unless it is beyond the point that it will not loose any value by doing the modification.
But then if you have only the one and don't want more it is a good thing to do

What do you mean by easy open?  I wish you could cock it with out having to break it open.  That would be a good mod.

Can the contender be made to act like a G-2?

The conversion is basically the moving of the location of the pivot pin to change the leverage needed to break the action open on pre easy open classic frames (before they became the standard version from TC).

You can easily re-cock an easy open frame without breaking it open.   All it takes is a slight squeeze of the trigger guard to reset for re cock.

I'm guessing you are asking as a follow up to the re cock thing since the "singing cowboys" comment didn't answer it for you.   That question is answered now.   If you mean something else, will need more information as to what you are asking.

Evolution at work. Over two million years ago the genus Homo had small cranial capacity and thick skin to protect them from their environment. One species has evolved into obese cranial fatheads with thin skin in comparison that whines about anything and everything as their shield against their environment. Meus

Thanks for the info. The reason for me doing this : my 3 daughters shoot 3-p ar, rimfire rifle 3-p & silhouette, and are now starting pistol silhouette. My contender is hard to open for them. They have small hands and during competitions no one can assist them on the line opening the action so my choice is to send the gun back to have the easy-open feature added. Thanks again.

I have all three contenders .
You might try to see if they can use the easy open first, try someone else's if you can locate one. The reason I say this is the G-2 is easier by a little bit to open, and it could make the difference for your kids.
Good luck,
 Neal

How will I need to ship the gun? USPS, UPS, or Fed ex? Which is the legal way for me to send it?
