Mine knocks me silly with heavy loads, and I have heavy laminated wood. Well, not that bad but it is much more uncomfortable to me as a carbine than as a handgun. Kicks much more than my 10# M98 .45-70, as one would expect. I like the carbine better as a shooting platform for this cartridge, and I can adjust my loads/powders to reduce recoil to acceptable levels. Top-end 405-grain Trapdoor loads will get your attention off the bench, not bad in the field.
