I took the "hat mount" bracket from my "Tracker Light" http://www.huntsmart.com/index.cfm/fuseaction/displayleaf/sid/2091834671632534561254/lh/h-0,c-87,l-1228/sb/1228/pos/13  and mounted it on my shooting stick. I scan with the shooting stick....and when the "eyes appear" I just plop the rifle on the shooting stick and make the shot. Here in Pa, we were not permitted to use a gun mounted light prior to this year. In fact, now we are not permitted to "scan" with a gun mounted light, only shoot with it. But, I;m just use to scanning and shooting with this "method" so this is what I do.

I recommend the Niite Lite as they are very durable and the battery last me the entire life of the nights hunt.

Lots of choices for spot lights out there, hand held, gun or vehicle mounted and many work great for night predator hunting.   For gun mounted I've used the Optronics NightBlaster's, and they do have a 30mm scope mount available for their 100, 250 and 350 yard models in both variable and non-adjustable beams.    I've also used Light Force 400 and 600 meter beams, and they come with a mount that will fit 1" to 30mm scope tubes.

It's worth the higher cost to get the variable beam version of either brand IMO.

Evolution at work. Over two million years ago the genus Homo had small cranial capacity and thick skin to protect them from their environment. One species has evolved into obese cranial fatheads with thin skin in comparison that whines about anything and everything as their shield against their environment. Meus

Have no idea if Will got his meat hooks into Optronics.    Kind of fits IMO that he is peddling "his" NightBlaster version at Larry Potterfield's place though.    I won't buy from or support either one of them.

The Optronics can be bought from many dealers both on-line and over the counter, including camo versions of some models for those who believe in camo.

The link to the Optronics web site.

Dave,
That is a very good idea and I thank you for it. All too often I am fumbling around but do use a hand held along with a scope light. Yours not only provides some stability but also some elevation above ground level which would help a bunch.
