CZ 527 7.62x39

I received one of these last month from CZ for an article on hog hunting. My first impression was the action felt like it had rocks in it. But after a little lubing and working the bolt, it smoothed out. I have tried many loads in it, mostly in the 125 gr. range. I mounted a VXII 1x4 power scope on it. Yesterday I shot three different bullets though it using a case full of R7. Each one shot almost identical sized groups of right at 1 inch. For this short barreled rifle and a 4x scope at 100 yards, I thought it was very good.The factory said the rifle has a .311 bore but .310 and .308 bullets performed the same. The hog hunt will be soon. I can't wait to try the Barnes .310 123gr bullet on a hog. By the way when using .308 bullets in this rifle, due to lower velocities, contact the bullet company to make sure the bullet will expand and perform at lower velocities.

I've handled one and it felt good.  I love my CZ 527 Varmint, that's for sure.  Let us know how it performs in the field!

I sure will keep you informed. This is my second CZ527. I have one in .222 which shoots 1/2 inch groups with reloads. In fact I took a doe with it last year. It is one of those rifles that give you natural confidence.

It's too bad that the prices of the CZ's are going up since the dollar is going down.... but they're still a great buy at around $600.

Did you try any bulk military ammo?

I got one a year or so ago  and it shoots everything under an inch.
for hunting I have been using the 154 grain sp from wolf

I pulled my 7.62c39 barrel, turned off the rear sight base in my lathe, and reinstalled it. Then I put it into an extra CZ stock I had,,,and American Sporter stock with higher comb for scope use. It also happens to be one of the highly figured stocks that came on the early batch of .221 FireBall CZ 527s. So now, I have a very nice accurate CZ 527 American Sporter in 7.62x39,,,,,MUCH BETTER for scope use!,,,,,and ACCURATE.
This picture shows a T36 Weaver mounted but it's only for load testing for my 59 year old eyes. A Leupold 2.5-8 matt or 4X wait to be mounted next!

My 527 Carbine shoots the Wolf HP's very well, as well as my reloads with Hornady 110 gr. V-Max's.  I've got a Tasco 1.5-4.5X scope on it.

  My CZ shoots some 110 grn. hollow points [reloads] into 1" at 50 yards [ only the 50 yard range was open that day] and the wolf soft points to the same point.
  I love this rifle but wish the iron sights were on. They shoot about a mile high.
 No worries I was going to scope it anyway.
