CZ 75B production date

My CZ 75 B has "96" stamped  just rearward of the ejection port, is this the year it was made? Serial number 9672J.

The CZ75 dates back to 1975, but importation to the US did not begin until 1990. CZ75 pistols before that date were generally brought in through Canada and commanded extremely high prices on the US market. CZ-USA was created in 1998 and is the current importer.

There is no serial number chart to compare with on CZ pistols. If your gun has no importer marking, figure 1980's. If it has importer markings other than CZ-USA in Kansas, figure 1990's. CZ-USA markings, since 1998.
