Hi : I had ordered a walther falcon hunter 25 cal. break barrel rifle.   but .........decided to change out to the beeman R2....It is supposed to shoot in the 650 fps range as advertised. Ordered a bunch of pointed pellets and some crow mags and some pointed mosqito pellets that are light and cheap on closeout.
was thinking that I do not know what would be the heaviest weight I should shoot with this gun .. the eun jin 30+grainers or the 40+ grainers... ? too heavy or OK... how about round lead balls in 25 ? what is the lightest I can shoot with it.. it is a compressed air break barrel without a spring, like the theobens operate.. a spring air piston, it is called....
ONe last question : what type of lube would you suggest? I am new to anything but my old benamin pump up, and I did not know that much about it... so any help would be appreciated..
I am warming up with my old benj. 177 pistol and rifle and a cardboard box trap on the deck
thanks in advance.

Hey  I imagine no one has an opinion on the RX 2.. so I opted for a different route.. I was going thinking that it was offered in a 25 but it is not .. it was a mistake.. I opted for a webley patriot springer and replaced the spring with a gas piston so it cannot take a set over time, etc.
I would appreciate any help out there.

You really went all out for a newbe. All of the guns listed are very nice - and extremely powerful. Probably not exactly the best to 'start out with'. I'd say that getting your feet wet, the Beman R-7 is as good as it gets unless you need big power for some hunting situation. I own both an R-7 and an RWS M34P - the 34P is in .22 cal and is used as my hunting gun - mainly rock chucks. The RWS is a big, heavy powerful gun that does its purpose well, but for fun the R-7 wins hands down. I was just shooting my RS in the basement the other day, got tired of little 1 hole groups so I decided to shoot the target out - shot a ring of pellets around the 6 ring and plopped the center of the target into the pellet trap. Lots of fun.

got the webley in 25 and it was a dud... turkish made and under powered poor workmanship... after looking up more info on it I realized it had all the problems inherent in the new breed of turkish webley patriots... very dissapointing, but I failed to research sufficiently... then I read a lot more and found that for the money and in the used market I could find a few really good choices for hunting and target use ... good compromises : I ended up with a tx200MarkIII air arms 22 cal underlever with a tasco pro point variable scope ... with a beech stock... I am told it is scary accurate and powerful enough for short range hunting... next I will just jump to the cpc's or the hpa's and a variety of upgrades perhaps interchangeable barrels... I am thinking of a 25 or larger bore for hunting... cannot decide whether to look at the korean guns or the air force or logan guns, but I am far from deciding.... just starting to determine what is really out there and what mods can be had and what effects they have and how they affect the caliber and the ease of functioning and refilling and changing the power, etc.
I am basically wanting to get started the right way with really good stuff, as I am an old shooter and have high expectations for the equipment and the performance and do not want to spend money more than once on this.. unless it is for other aspects larger bore guns, etc.
thanks for your reply, I hope to see more action on this site as more folks take interests..
