What is the twist rate for a .223 CZ 527 Varmint?
« on: April 21, 2008, 06:29:19 AM »
Some sources say 1-9, others 1-16. I am working up a load for Prairie dogs, and would like to use 50 gr V-max's. Thanks in advance!

The Varmint Is 1-9 It has a faster twist than the standard 527s and it will stabilize bullets up to 69gr It shoot the 72gr A max ok but they won't fit in the mag, Mine seems to like the 55gr Vmax the best, but really I haven't found a bullet it won't shoot well.

Well I own one and the paper work that came with it say 1-9 and it shoots 69gr bullets way to good to be 1-12, I also own a 1-12 rifle it won't shoot anything heavier than 55 gr bullets and prefers 45 to 50 grainers.

Ok I gotta give a little here,  I have the 527 varmint kevlar stocked version, it is 1-9, apparently the laminate version is 1-12.

Well CZ had a good idea making the varmint in 2 different twists to accommodate different bullet weights.

Mine has the wood stock, so it must be the 1-12. Thanks for the responses!
