Mossberg500/Remington870

I heard that a 500 barrel will fit on an 870. Anyone know if that is true for sure?

I don't recall hearing that the two barrels were interchangeable.  The designs are different.  Mossberg uses a threaded bolt type system that threads into the top of the magazine.  Remington uses a cap that threads around the magazine tube.  In addition, I checked both of mine.  The mounting positions for the magazine cap's are not even close.

I believe that Mossberg makes 870 barrels for Remington.  Perhaps that's were the discrepancy came from.

The barrels are not interchangeable as EVOC ONE stated since they are different designs.  Mossberg did make barrels to fit Remington's a while back, but I don't know if they still do.

I think I remember seeing them in a Bass Pro or Cabela's catalog recently.

I know mossberg makes a slug barrel for the 870,but I am pretty sure all other mossberg barrels do not fit the 870.

Mossberg still makes 870 barrels, from the 18.5 cylinder bore to slug barrels.   They are cheaper than Remington factory barrels, too.
