Did H&R make rifles in 1908?

If I was some poor farmer, back then, would I have been able to afford a 45-70? :o ;)

In 1908 you often died from a broken leg, abscess tooth, child birth, minor lacerations, many infections, diabetes, or suffered horribly from minor ailments that are easily corrected today.

But no one worried about Muslim terrorists or half of Mexico sneaking across the border and staying. I still wouldn't want to return to those times.

H & R came out with a great single shot shotgun in that year--the model 1908.  I saw a 16 ga one recently in great shape but someone got their wallet out before I did.

Impressive Fred, thanks for sharing!!  ;)

Kurt, H&R 1871 has only been in business since 1991, the original H&R had been in business since 1871.

Canada_ passed a law that prohibited poor people from Entering into
their country for any reason.

That I think was quite the law. If still in force in 1951 I would not been able to enter Canada since all I had was $4.50 and the Canadian Gov. advanced the
$155 ships fare to be paid back when ever I could in the next 5 years.

Now we live in a multy cultural country. When we entered Canada near Vancouver from the US a couple of weeks ago. The Canadian border patrol booth was attended by a Chinese that could just barely speak English,
unheard only a few years ago. When you are in Vancouver you would think you
are in Hong Cong

In the Civil War, more folks died from infection than gun shots.

One of the reasons the "average" age was so low was because the infant mortality was so high. "Childhood diseases" carried off countless children and there were epidemics of measles and scarlet fever that had entire towns quarantined.

Of course I knew H&R was around in 1908, but the question was, did they make make RIFLES then.

All I can find so far is pistols and shotguns.
