38 spcl 125 gr W231 or HP38 options
« on: April 22, 2008, 08:08:53 AM »
Shoot a Ruger Security 6 .357 with 6 inch bull barrel.  38 Specials - Remington cases. Magnus no.513 125 gr RNFP cowboy .357 diameter bullets.  W231 powder and CCI primers.
My Speer 13 manual has nothing in cast bullets for loads.  Anyone have a manual that gives me a load range for this powder/bullet combo?  Other sites give pet loads from 3.2 to 5.8.  Don't want to start too low and not too high for leading problems, which I have had before with SWC's.  Thanks.

I read that HP38 is the same powder as W231 and I can find data for that.  Min. 3.8 grains and Max. 4.8.  Can anyone confirm that as true and thus safe?

Hodgdon's list the same powder charges for W231 on their web site so you should be good .
