LONG GRIP OM, THREE SCREW RUGER SBH
« on: April 24, 2008, 05:22:21 AM »
I could use some info on this. I have a Ruger OM, SBH, that a has grip frame different from later SBH's.  A later SBH grip panel is too small, too short, and the angle is different.  Is this one of the 300 first run SBH's? Serial # 19xxx. The gun is in about 98% condition, and I have the original box. I was getting ready to customize this gun, but do not want to ruin a collector, if it is. I would rather swap it off for another if it is a collector. Any info would be appreciated.

Here's a great article for you with excellent info on Ruger grip frames.  http://www.gunblast.com/Hamm_Ruger-SA-GripFrames.htm

If it is one of the "Long Handled" ones you have a rare dog on your hands and any attempt to customize would be a mistake, IMHO.

Don't touch that long frame!!! Speak with Ruger collectors. I would suggest Carl aka "flatgate" on the Rugerforum. I think "he won't have a dog in that fight", but can comment on the collectability of" long frames".
