700P question
« on: April 26, 2008, 01:28:05 AM »
has anyone out there seen a Remington 700P (police) with a 26" heavy barrel with flutes? i have seen them with 26" heavy barrels and the LTR models with 20" fluted barrels. but i know i haven't been looking at them that longs so maybe i missed the year they where made like this. is there a way yo tell by the serial number it left the factory a P model, and not one some one put together after wards. whats a good price for a used one?
thanks

There were indeed some with the 26" barrel that had flutes but not many were made if I'm remembering correctly. If you find one and want it, do not hesitate.

An used Police still fetches in the high 7's and low 8's unless the barrel is close to being shot out. The fluted models would be around the same price.

Shoot an email to Remmy and inquire about the serial #.
