A star was shining brightly
In the town of Bethlehem.
And Mary and Joseph so weary
Found no room for them at the inn.
And as the hour was drawing near
They stopped at a stable so bare,
Where Jesus was born in a manger
With tender, loving care.
He had no soft, warm blanket
Or booties for His feet,
Only wisps of straw to lie on
A place where He could sleep.
And then for miles around they came
With a star to guide the way,
And they knelt before our Savior
On that very first Christmas day.
