Hogue 10/22 stocks
« on: April 28, 2008, 08:18:45 AM »
I've read a lot of good feedback on MidwayUSA, and some negative. The biggest negative that pops up is that the hogue overmolded stocks are to flimsy, especially for a .920 barrel. The setup I was looking at was a Hogue OD green stock and a green mountain blued/fluted barrel. Wanted to see if anyone had expeirence with these stocks. Looking to give another go at customizing my 10/22. I bought one of the butler creek combos years ago......In a word: JUNK. Shot far worse than I woulda dreamed. Factory setup was emaculate compared to that waste of 100 bucks. Looking to do it right this time.

I have one that I had on my Chief AJ custom 10/22.  I didn't want to take a chance on beating up the Fajen stock on the rifle, so I put the Hogue stock on.  I didn't see any difference in accuracy at all with the Hogue.  The rifle still shot as well as my Anschutz 54.  I traded it for a Contender Carbine in .17 HMR.  It's a black stock, looks new since it wasn't used much, you can have it for $40 + shipping.

I have one of them on my Magnum Research version of the 10-22 along with the carbon graphite barrel. I like it quite well it's a super accurate rifle that is as light as the old Nylon 66. Of course the ONLY Ruger part on the entire rifle is the magazine but it is basically a clone of the Ruger with many upgrades and all the after market parts many add to their 10-22s.

They are now making it in the .17 HRM and that one will likely be added in the not too far distant future also using the Hogue stock.
