300lb boar I killed 4-27
« on: April 28, 2008, 12:30:58 PM »
I hunted in Northern Ca this last weekend with a friend of mine on some private land he has access to and killed my biggest boar by far. He weighed 150lbs with no hide, head, entrails or lower feet. Just the hide with the shields attached had to weight 60lbs. The guy at the meet place said live weight was probably about 300lbs. He looked it, believe me. This was one beat up boar too. He had wounds all over him from recent fights, so there must me some more big boars lurking around for them to take that boy on. I killed him with a 300 grain LBT solid pushed with a stout load of 296 out of a 7.5" barreled super redhawk.

Good hunting,
Brian

Good job, congratulations! Tentatively, six-gunz and I are going to try for a Russian this December on the east coast, at the invitation of drdougrx.

Good work. Do you know of any good guides for hogs her in N. Cal? I'm relatively new to N. Cal and want to get into the wild hog fest.

Leupold Gilmore Reddot. It is the one with the fine dot. Works great out to 100 yards. I killed a pig at 50 yards off hand with it 2 years ago and it works equally well at very close range like this pig was.

Good hunting,
Brian
