De-cocking Bolt when removed from action

Hi - am new to the Sako world but bought myself a 75 Finnlite the other day. It sure is a nice rifle! The only trick being that in NZ we have to store the bolt separate from the rifle but when I remove the bolt it cocks itself so that the firing pin spring remains under load. So the question is can the bolt be removed without it cocking itself?

Technically it can, but if you do then you'll have a tough time getting the bolt back in later. You'll actually have to recock the bolt before reinstalling it and that's a pain.

Managed to decock mine once. Thought for sure it would be at the gunsmiths before I figured out what I had done and made it right again.

It is relatively easy to decock a bolt. The problem comes when you want to reassemble the rifle as you must cock the bolt before it can be replaced and that requires that you work against strong spring tension. No problem if you have a sturdy bench vise to hold the bolt while you are working against spring tension.
