For the N-frame guns I actually prefer the Pachmayr Presentation grips. They come or least used to come in both a large and small size to better fit each person's hand. My size 10 hand worked best with the small.

I have Pachmayr Presentation grips on my K, L and N frames. On J frames, I have found the Decelerator seems to work best for me.

All of my S&W's wear Houge Monogrips, either wood or rubber. They fit my hand like a glove.

I used to have Pachmyer Presentations on mine but switched to Houge Monos - much better.

Then I went to the Crimson Trace soft rubber for one of my guns. The CT grips aren't quite as nice as the Hogue but I love the laser sighting.  It helps me shoot much more quickly and accurately at self defense ranges.

I've worked 34 years as a construction laborer and my hand constantly swell and shrink from this work, depending on what the current job is(jackhammer to grade checking). I change grips, probably more often than most because of this but, got enough grips, in my wood box, to find a fit for the current condition of my hands?
My theory is a handgunner never has too many sets of grips?

On revolvers with any amount of recoil like a 44 mag I prefer the Herrett's Jordan Trooper stock. It's fits my hand and distributes recoil out quite well.
In a rubber grip I like the S&W X frame grip that Hogue makes for them.
On other guns any grip that allows a good consistent hold is fine, the Hogue works quite well as do some of the factroy grips.

I was right! On another thread someone asked what grips you had in the pic of your revolvers. I said I thought they were Herretts in the Jordan pattern;)

I like grips that approximate S&W Magna grips with a Tyler T-Grip adapter.  Skinnied down boot grips are on two of my J-Frames, Sambar stag Ajax magnas with T-grip on one N-Frame and the round-butt scales, soon to be replaced, on the other N-Frame, a new M21.

My hands are small and I like grips narrower at the bottom, but narrow everywhere with the backstrap open.

For wood grips, the Ahrends grips fill my hand well and have a great natural point to them. For rubber grips I like the Hogue the best.

My M-28 came with a pair of rubber Pachmeyer grips that I replaced with smooth sided target grips from S&W.  I purchased a M-29 when I was in college and it came with skinny combat grips.  My hand went numb from the heavy magnum rounds and I asked what they had as grips.  Robert from Bob's Guns and Tackle in Norfolk came out with two sets of wood stocks one checkered and the other not.  The uncheckered grips looked great and did not rip off skin when I used the heavy rounds.  I always wanted a 4" M-29 and bought another set of smooth sided grips in case I found one.  Found a 28 instead and the grips look and work very well, especally with heavy rounds.  the stocks are not too big and I have carried both in the woods with out it being too bulky.
Hope this is helpful.

I like the factory magna wood grips on all my N- and K frame guns.
They keep the gun from recoiling as high as the grips that fill in behind the trigger guard do.
\The recoil is more straight back.

Don - I like using a pair of Buffalo Horn grips like yours with the Tyler T-grip adapter but I am really wanting a set of the S&W factory smooth magna grips.  I had a couple of pair of those years back and wish I still had them.  On occasion I think I see them advertised somewhere in the Shotgun News and if I could find out where I would get a couple of pair.  Those fit my hand better than any other grip.  Mikey.

Mikey, Eagle Grips ("Regular") makes something real close to the smooth S&W Magnas.  I haven't handled them so I don't know if they're the same thickness, but aside from the medallion they look about the same.

I just ordered a pair of their "Secret Service" grips for another N-Frame square butt that I'm getting.  I expect to thin them down and make the finger grooves a little less obvious, but I'm thinking they should do well for what I like.  Ebony, which may contrast nicely with SS, too.

-Don

P.S.  Got the Eagle grips and they were already nice and narrow, but there was too much material behind the trigger guard.  After removing quite a bit from the grooves and leveling down the peak between them, this is what I got.  The idea of boot grips on an N-Frame is sort of a chuckle, but these are about as good as it gets for me, without rounding the heel of the butt and notching the toe.
