gunkote

I want to use gun kote or that molly spray brownells sells but I don't have an old oven to use. Does anyone know if I can use a grill to bake the finish on or does the temperature have to remain fairly constant.

use duracoat no heat needed, it is an epoxy sets up on chemical reaction if bull barrel wait a couple of days before handling even though the directions say an hour the added weight of a heavy barrel will imprint the paint.

I would think that you would have a hard time maintaining an even temperature on a barbeque grill.

I use the kitchen oven when the wife is not looking.

When she is looking, I've used a hot air hair dryer for baking on the finish.  Seems to work okay.

Does it leave a smell or something? I've got no problem with using the oven I just don't want to make anyone sick.

We use a dupont epoxy paint at work on metal parts, dpf something. Could I use this?

Maybe, it calls for 300 degrees. I don't think the car would get that hot but if I left it in longer maybe it would be okay.

Your barrel probably gets close to 300 degrees during an extended shooting session...soft solder melts around 400 its used on guns sometimes....silver solder melts around 1100 and is used on guns alot....Your gun will be fine at 300
