I've read a few times that the blow back in a Sidekick causes the gun to seize at the hinge; or not open at the hinge. How do you guys avoid this. Please be descriptive!
Thanks
Blowback is a problem in all Huntsmans and Sidekicks, just the nature of the beast. If you shoot more than 10 - 15 times at the range, you will more than likely have problems with closing and lock-up. This is due to build up of blowback on breach face, latch, and latch shelf. This can be remedied by wetting some Q-Tips with alcohol, soapy water, or BP Cleaner and placing them in a Zip-Lock baggie or airtight container and taking them to the bench with you. Just clean the breach face, latch and latch shelf with the wet Q-Tips, only takes a minute or two and you are back in business for another dozen shots or so.
If you want to avoid 95 - 99% of that blowback, get yourself the .25 ACP BP conversion. I just get a little soot ring on the standing breech around the rim of the .25 ACP case.
