M77 Mk 2 re-assembly
« on: July 18, 2003, 07:33:24 PM »
I thought that I read a while back about how to re-assemble a M77 by tightening up the mounting screws in a certain order and a specific way.  If any of you know which topic I might find this under, or have any suggestions of your own, I would appreciate it.  I was going to take apart my new 30.06 M77 and clean the metal with de-greaser, and check everything over, then get it put back together, get the scope mounted and do some shooting with it.  Thanks!!

Taken from the Ruger Instruction Manual:  Install floor plate hinge assembly and firmly tighten screw.  (This screw is angled and draws the barrel-action assembly into the bedding surface of the stock.)  Tighten the two trigger guard screws as follows:  DO NOT tighten one screw all the way and  then tighten the other.  Instead, alternately tighten each one--a partial turn at a time--so that the screws will be tightened equally until both are snugly tightened.
