How hard would it be to remove bayonet  lug and front site off of a m44 carbine or is that a job for a gunsmith?
I enjoy collecting guns, swaping and staying up on all the newest models. I deer, quail, squirrel and rabbit hunt.

billy: You may wish to run this past the gunnut69, the Moderator of the Gunsmithing Forum but I have removed those before with hand tools.  Not the prettiest of jobs but very passable.  You need not remove the front sight and you can remove the majority of the bayonet lug/support with a hacksaw and dremel tool, clean it up with some Crocus Cloth or a polishing wheel on a dremel, cold blue the metal and it should look pretty good.  If you don't trust yourself doing that a gunsmith can do it all in about one hour.  HTH.  Mikey.
