Hey folks, A freind of mine has his hands on a gun that has us all wondering. The rifle; app. 42" long a very deep curveture in the butt stock, butt stock also trimmed in brass, wood is walnut. a rifled barrel app.cal maybe .30 could be .28. the barrel is octagon breech to end of fore stock half of barrel lenght, then goes round. fixed sights iron rear brass front. trigger gaurd is ornate brass (big) The lock is a side lock. trimmed in silver, plate and hammer, as a cap on hammer, also very nice trigger crisp no creep, lenght of pull suggest the gun was for ladies, or youth. Primer system (different) as if a paste might have been smeared on nipple and actived by hammer. This a side lock. A letter was found stating that gun was sold USED in 1836 in New York The only thing confirmed so far is the barrel is a Remmington. That is all. X's-10's REDFRED
