scope mount for the Versi pack
« on: May 12, 2008, 06:52:59 AM »
I have two of the combos (alright they are my kids) one in Wood marked NEF and the other in Synthetic marked H&R.  Both are the .22lr /.410 combo sets.  Other than the markings they are identical.

I scoped one and need to scope the other now.  Seems I can't find the mount anymore.  The one at Gander Mtn has a flat base and runs into the sights.  The mount I have that works has a bit of a Cantilever to it.  This is the one I am looking for.

Does any one know the Make and Model for the base?

I got mine from Cabelas, the same one that I put on my son's youth .243.  I did have to remove the rear sight though.  That was fine with me, I did not really like the factory sights anyway.

All of the bases made for H&R rifles are listed in the FAQs and Help sticky. ;)

Thanks Tim.  I have spent many hours on the FAQs and other pages here.  I looked there first and searched all the listed mounts.  None of them are the one I have mounted on my sons gun.  I was hoping someone knew which one I was talking about with the Cantilever front.  It can be mounted without removing the rear sight.

I think the one you are talking about may be the H&R Ultra scope mount it just looks like it is cantilevered because it is so long... does your other one have a set screw near the end ? Another thing you can do is just shorten the standard handi mount . Tim has a sticky in the faq's on cutting the grooves where you need them. Kurt

The Leupold rail is the shortest of the bunch and doesn't need to have any slots cut like the Weaver 82, the rear slot is close to the end of the rail, it's also the least expensive. If you mean the Ultra mount, it's a moot point unless you can find someone that wants to sell one, they don't make it any more. But any of the rails will mount behind the rimfire dovetail sight, clearing the scope bell will be the issue. I have a Simmons ATV mounted on my Hornet, it clears the sight in medium Burris rings.

I looked again at the mount I have mounted and it is of the tip-off type.  I only have a 4x15 tasco mounted on it.  Not a full Weaver type grab.

Thanks for the help.
