what is your opinion about minn kota endura motors ? good or junk?

Not familar with the Endura but Minn-Kota is the ONLY brand of trolling motor I've ever owned so that should tell you what I think of Minn-Kota.

for my big boat I got one it's 44 pounds of thrust , had it maybe ohhhhhhhh I dunno since maybe 1996-1997 thereabouts , it's been good to me , I got a little 24 pounder on my little boat I just got , ain't planning on keeping it since I don;t need 2 of these , not sure if it says endura or not , but it has been previously used will good results , actually can't say I ever heard a bad word about the minn kotas

I've had a MK 14lb stern mount motor for 20 some years, it's been on several boats including a Herters freighter canoe, it still works fine on my cataraft. 5yrs ago I bought a new boat with a 55lb power drive with auto and co-pilot that works great on my 15' Alumumaweld Super Vee LS. My best friend had a MotorGuide that he had nothing but trouble with, he had to replace the electronics on it twice, he finally put it out with the garbage the third time it failed. $:-\$

Is the co-pilot the remote control? I have one on my trolling motor and forgot what it was called.

It sounds like overkill but being able to walk all over the boat and still control the motor is very handy when you have a fish on.
I zip tied it to my fishing pole so I can steer my boat with my thumb.

Minn-Kota's website is on the fritz right now, but see the accessories page for details. The auto-pilot feature keeps the boat headed on a magnetic compass bearing, the co-pilot is a wireless remote that controls speed and direction, it's just tiny little key fob sized thing that can even be wrist mounted or on the handle of your fishing rod with the included mount, I use it rod mounted all the time when fishing smallies.

I've had the co-pilot for a couple of years now and I use it a lot to follow shore lines and cast toward the shore. I like to be able to control the boat without having to turn to use the foot pedal. Also being able to turn the motor on and off is very handy.

I have had good luck with both Minn Kota and Motor Guide. Used both back on my first bass rigs. Both were easily broken in the heavy timber and rocks I tend to fish. I was forever bending shafts and breaking bow mounts. Then I discovered the OMC trolling motors. The mount alows the motor to absorb impact and tuck back under the boat when a solid object is struck. Haven't broken one since. As I bonus, the OMC is MUCH quieter than the others. I find it doesn't spook fish as bad when I have to get into cover to flip and pitch. I have them on two boats presently. One is a 12/24 on my bass boat, the other is a 12v on my flat bottom boat. Both are foot control, and have been on these boats since the early 90s. I'm sure all brands of trolling motors have improved since then. Probably can't go wrong with any of them.
