thumb's up on Taurus warranty service
« on: May 12, 2008, 12:27:46 PM »
I have heard otherwise, but I have to say that my experience with them has been good.  I recently bought two Gauchos.  Both were good shooters.  One had a very good trigger pull but the other had a very, very long pull indicating that the full cock notch on the hammer was cut too deep into the hammer.  It also would not align the holes with the loading gate when on half cock.  That usually means that the half cock notch was improperly positioned, a situation that I have had with a Uberti, and also an EMF Hartford.  I didn't know what to expect when I sent the offending gun back.  I thought I might get a polite letter stating that the gun was within specifications as it functioned safely and shot well.  I am pleased to report that I just received my Gaucho back and both problems were corrected.  This gun now has a light, short trigger pull just like the first gun and the cylinder also aligns properly.  So Taurus has my vote as being a dependable company that stands behind their product.  I have another Gaucho on layaway and am looking forward to shooting it also.  44 Man

I have to say, after today's phone experience... I am... well, let me tell you about it.

I have called taurus twice.  The first time was a tech question about my M444, and I was on the phone holding... for about thirty minutes before I got somebody I could ask my question to.

Then today, I went to order a scope base for my raging bull, and that was the fastest phone service I ever recieved!  One ring, got the operator, transfered me to customer service for purchases, no hold, ordered right away.  I tell you, when you let them know you want to spend some money, they sure do take care of you fast!!

44 man, I had a similar experience to yours with a Gaucho that had a poorly fit transfer bar.  I called them first and don't remember being very reassured based on the phone call, but it got sent in and I had it back in 3 weeks, fixed right up.  They did send a note about cleaning it regularly and not shooting handloads, which annoyed me a little until I found out everyone gets the same note from the repair shop.
