Stripped a screw
« on: May 13, 2008, 02:26:01 AM »
I stripped out the screw that holds the swing hammer on my Encore. I used the supplied allen wrench, but must have had it off a little, and stripped it out. I am going to contact TC and see if I can buy me a new screw. Turkey season just ended, I was switching from the 12 gauge back to the 223. Hopefully they will sell me a new screw.

I've heard of this happening a few times, and it's very unfortunate. I was curious of the first couple people that said they did it, i kinda figured that it was their fault. But, now that i've talked to multiple people that it's happened to, i think that T/C should fix or at least send another screw.

I was going to post this last night but, does anyone know if you can swap the swing hammer that comes on the pro-hunter for the original encore hammer that is fixed? thanks

plumbob - Every time I have had contact with T/C, I have came away satisfied. I have had broken springs and got a direct replacement or a different style, but better - no charge. I had trouble with lugs not fitting properly and got new replacements no charge. If you tell them what you need, I am willing to bet you get what you need pronto and probably no charge. I had them convert my Contender over to the "easy open" upgrade there was a charge, but they not only converted it over they replaced every locking lug on every barrel I had + they replaced the firing pin housing that had been flame cut from ruptured primers. If you have a part number call and ask for it, or you call and describe what you want and I am sure they will get you a new one with in a week. Did I mention that I like their customer service...it does not get much better.
