I also found that the corks I received varied in sizes, I just cut then in half and trim Little off the edges no problem. Ive used a few  synthetic cork and they were perfect.

Got mine yesterday. Think I might have to save my pennies and get the golf ball one too.

I think I'll mount it on this old table lamp base that my Dad made about 50 years ago...

This is quality machining; trying to figure out how the little 'tail' on the barrel was done so perfectly - It doesn't appear to be soldered on, but machined as one piece with the barrel. Zero gap anywhere between barrel and base (pay no attention to the man behind the camera)...

 Nice machine-cut engraving...

Why are they stuffing this man into a mortar? Must be a circus act ;D...

The burlap goodie bag, wine cork, two small stoppers, a bit of fuse and a little scoop made from a piece of brass wire silver brazed to a modified 22 shell...

This would really be a great gift for anyone into guns. Really classy. It's almost too nice to fire!

Victor3,

Glad to see you got one! It is nice craftsmanship. Since, EL Cazador 66 and now you have decided to put yours onto a base I decided to do the same. However, I wanted to do something a little different. So, since I like to do things the hard way sometimes.:) I created the base that's below. I call it a "Convertible Mortar" base. All I need to do is some shaping and staining.

The last photo below is to show the size difference between the cork & golfball size. Just to help tempt ya.... ;D  ;D  ;D

intoodeep - That's way cool how you inset the base into the wood. Makes for quick and easy cleaning as well as a solid foundation. Will look great for display too.

However, note that mine can be lit and thrown like a frizbee to fire in mid air over enemy trenches ;)

By the way, you didn't tempt me at all with that pic of the larger model - Not one tiny bit >:(

Clean with a capital "C" intoodeep!

Just took mine apart today to replace the cap screws with stainless ones. Very clever how the little tail was done; turned, then milled to leave a bit of the diameter. Nice touch.

My son has already designated the first victim when we go out to shoot it next week.

And the little character doesn't look to happy about that idea.  :D  :D Enjoy your time out with your mortar.

 Mine too ;D

I didn't put it on the base yet. Even with two scoops (from the included measure) and 1/2 a synthetic cork seated tight down onto the powder it hardly moved. Sent the corks about 25 yards.

With one scoop and a #7 stopper it wasn't much louder than a cap gun.

Great little toy. Mine will see much use since it can be fired just about anywhere an airgun could. I'm gonna launch peanuts to the squirrels with it next time I go camping ;)
