another 44/357max question
« on: May 17, 2008, 10:37:53 AM »
i have been talking to a Friend abut the two and we was wondering if anyone made a 24 or 26 "barrel for these other then custom shops and what kind of range are they good for in a rifle? i have shot the 44 in pistol and like it but now i am looking at one or the other for Indiana deer and trying to decide which one would be the better of the two rounds. also how accurate is the 357 max with mag rounds ?

They didn't have either in the contender.  You may want to try midsouth shooter supply they are a sponsor of this site.  I have also heard good things about Ed's TC's.

I have hunted deer in Indiana with both the 44 mag and 357 max in both rifle and pistol.  It is a 125-150 yard gun in either cartridge. Now that Hornady Leverlution ammo is out for the 44 mag, things may get extended a few yards.  The 357 Maximun has a slight edge in hunting accuracy and trajectory for me. Good Hunting!

If you reload the max is tops if you don't then I would stick with the 44.  I have had both and all I shoot now is the Max in a carbine
With my reloads I would take a shot @ 200yds easy with a good rest
