New H&R Ultra with ULTRAGON RIFLING Release. Maybe !

Well this is one I wish I had good news . I can only hope that my information is in error. With the change of ownership and administrative focus don't hold your breath to see these readily being on the market even this year. A call to H&R lead me to understand that these are not even in the pipeline for production yet.-Read priorities of new owners.- (Sort of reminds you of Ruger and their announcements and time of a new product to market.) I am sure it will happen within a year or two but at a substantially higher price and with design changes ala REMINGTON.

It is all in a word. PROFIT !     Wait and see. It's working for the slug manufacturers so why not ?.......................

The new Ultras are available, SSI has the  SB1-S24 Ultra Light Slug Hunter 20ga in stock, at least one member has one on order from Walmart, whether they'll have the "UG" rifling is another matter tho. The Remington deal is old news, see the Remington Consolidation Plan sticky, there are some important updates on it, like the $4.2M that's being invested in the Ilion NY plant.

and according to an insider at H&R (2 actually), to date about five, that's correct, FIVE, aka "5", employees will be moving from the Gardner location to NY. I know we all wish the best to all of the other displaced loyal employees....<><....

The investments are fine. The amount is really minimal when you are talking production and tooling upgrade. Start at 10 to 15 times that number and you really have my attention.

I saw Sports South had them in stock last wed I called the factory and was told yes they are realeasing some and slowly shipping them (20ga) and they do have the Ultragon rifling so I went to walmart and ordered one $184 out the door should be able to pick up first part of the week. The one I got is  SB1-S24 Ultra Light Slug Hunter 20ga. Another member here already has one also. Kurt

She had to do some checking to verify and assured me they were 20ga with the new rifling and they are in production and slowly being released.Also the guy at Walmart had to call the Corp office to get the proper SKU# so that he could order it from Sports South and SS say's they are in stock.Hopefully they will call me Monday and I can do the paper work and pick it up on tuesday I got to go by Illinois (ain't got a clue) laws.  Kurt

         Keep us posted. My sources say that NO "Ultragon barrels" have been shipped or made up as of this date. Curious to see if you really do get one.

I only have 3 sources the factory and they said they have gone to the production floor and the 20's are being released slowly.
The distributor who did not have it in stock before and now has guns in stock. It might be intresting to note they do not show any Tracker II in stock. And Walmart who I ordered the gun from I was standing in front of the guy when he called to see if they were in stock and they will not order any guns not in stock plus he had to call corperate to get the new SKU#. I have been following this gun from the factory since December 2007 and have talked to the factory reps 6 times by phone personally . Those are the facts and I will be very disapointed if it don't happen.I think it's a go. Now I am not talking about the heavy BBL's or the 12ga just the ULSH 20ga . That's my story and I'm stickin to it. Kurt
