baffled
« on: May 19, 2008, 09:27:31 AM »
Bore sighted my Remington Genesis and took it out to the range. I am shooting round balls inside a Hornady plastic sabot. First shot at 50 yds, a little high off the black. Moved the target out to 75 yds. No scope adjustments were made. Shot 2 more shots at this range, what in the world, did not even hit the target. Any suggestions? ???

Over shooting would be my guess.

Try shorter yardage. 50,60,70,80 ext.

What powder charge?

With my lyman great plains i am 3" high @ 58 yards and dead on at 71.

Try 1" high @50 and then move out to 75 and see.

You using the proper sabot for the round ball?

You may want to try more than 1 shot at 50 to see if it groups before trying to shoot at longer ranges.  90 gr of powder in a fast twist barrel may not yield very good results with a round ball/sabot.  I would try to get a decent group before moving the target, may need to back off the charge a little to get it shooting good.
