donkey hunt
« on: May 19, 2008, 10:32:20 AM »
well the last time i had some time off, i rode my bike down to the farm and did a little varmint hunting with my bow. well i saw a wild ass(donkey) and i thought maybe i could kill it(he pays me for every large varmint i kill like goats or coyotes) so i gave it a try with my bow. the arrow hit were the heart should be and he ran and so i got my 1934 380 out and tried in van to stop it but that did not work and he left with my arrow still in it(i have only 5 arrows, 2 small game/varmint, 1 fishing, and 2 big game) so i looked hard for it. I found my arrow and there was blood with air bubble in it(a luge shot) but i did not find the donkey. I told him about what happen and he was going to go out with dogs and see if he could find it. I know from hunting them in the pass that there hard to kill( 270 and up with a 30/06 with 180 or 300win being the best) so more then likely it's not dead and i made a ass out of myself for try  to hunt one with a bow. Has anyone else did some donkey hunting before?

::)  A-HEM!  I direct your attention to the last line of your signature block...
Do ya think asses are made outa polar bear liver?
The Army's cavalry mounts were eaten on Bataan :'( ; they just be big donkeys... (they can interbreed ya know....)
You ain't been able to find any $100 horses since the demand for them by the oriental meat markets cranked up in the 70's.
All that aside, I prefer dog....juicier.   ;D

I know technically you can eat them, I guess I should have asked if you wanted to eat them. Is it good? I guess you can make anything taste good if you cook it right but I would think it was tough.

You can't eat polar bear liver?

I dunno... never et any... I'm an ol' Cavalryman and it seems kinda sacrilegious to me to eat horses... :(   Hi-ebber (vernacular again) I seem to remember studying an intentional infliction of emotional distress case, and this here memory may just be senility, but a feller supposedly invited a bunch a people to a dinner after a successful elk hunt.  After the meal was over and after everyone raved about the fine quality of the meat, he asked if they would like to see the mounted head of the magnificent creature that they had just dined upon.  Whereafter he produced the mount of a donkey.  'course, I appreciate that kind of humor... :P

I read/heard sumpin 40-50 year ago that said it was so high in vitamin A it was poisonous.  There was an old story about Arctic explorers that ate some and died...  'course, polar bears bein just about extinct now I guess it's a non-issue.  ;)

Since ol' Jamal seems to have an abundance of wild ass aound his place why don't we get him to try some out for us and let us know?  ;D
