Does anyone know the difference,if any, between the 6.5-06AI and the 6.5-06 Asquare. I can only find dies for the Asquare.

My understanding is that it is like the ill-fated 6.5-08 A-Square - the longtime 6.5-06 wildcat cartridge standardized through SAAMI with AS's name tacked on.

The Ackley is the same case but has been blown out with a sharp shoulder added - and usually loaded to higher-than-standard pressures.

I have data on the 6.5-06 and the 6.5-06 Ackley imp. but can find no other round close so would guess Lone Star is correct.

So the Asquare would be the standard round like 6.5-06. Then you would take that round and improve it to get the Ackley version? If that is correct where can you find dies for the 6.5-06AI? And further more does any one have any experience with one?? Thanks for all replies

A GOOGLE search turned up RCBS and Redding as die suppliers.  The AI reamer is available to any custom gunsmith who wants to order one.

I remember reading some years ago about a fellow writer for Precision Shooting magazine who shot one - Bob Jourdan.  Perhaps you can contact PS and ask them for a copy of the particular issue.
