Shooting or fishing?
« on: May 21, 2008, 11:55:39 PM »
Who here shoots thru the summer. I know Ive got maybe 2 more range days planned. One for my new Rem700 35 whelen & one for my Muzzleloaders. Then I ll be dialed in for this years deer. After that Its walleye fishing, little bit of catfishing, some boating, The guns stay in the safe till about September. Who here are the diehards who shoot all year round
I dont care what gun Im using as long as Im hunting

NH winters cut down the shooting time so I shoot alot in the summer. I do some fishing too.

I shoot year around. Even tho I don't elk hunt any more, I still practice my various field position shooting with my mags just to keep my hand in. And I shoot other calibres just for fun. Last night, after supper, my B-I-L and I were shooting .22's off the front porch at a bullet spinner.

I'll do which ever I decide I want at the moment. To shoot I go to my 100 yard range in my back yard. To go fishing I head down to the front of my property to my pond. Shooting is closer by a couple hundred yards I guess but then I take my four wheeler either way so it really just depends on my mood.

Well, don't have a pond to fish in but do have a 600 yard range behind the house at the farm.  I shoot year round, a week seldom goes by that I don't burn some powder.  For the fishing I like to travel the ten miles to the Columbia River and go after the sturgeon.

I shoot year round for the most part as the range is 10 minutes from the house.......

Honestly, I haven't bought a license yet this year and they expired in March.

All right. I cant afford to shoot now. Ive spent alot of money on walleye fishing over the last couple weeks.  :'( But Ive got about 35 lbs of walleye in the freezer :o  Gonna get more in a couple weeks. Oh yeah found out my 20 ft boat will survive 6-8 ft waves. Got caught in a storm about 8 miles out. Took me an hour & 15 min to go 8 miles
I dont care what gun Im using as long as Im hunting

I shoot all summer long and into the fall. I have so many assorted guns that I want to enjoy them all. I walleye fish also and ride my motorcycle as much as possible. All this keep me busy...gotta go...

When it gets really hot I'll skip the shooting or keep it to the early mornings.  Most of my fishing is wading in cold water streams, so that's good for those really hot days.

Yeeeee Haaaaaaw, Just got back from Biloxi fishing the Chandeleur Islands for red fish and sea trout.  Nice people. Nice boat. They fed us well.
Spent a nice rifle and a medium priced scope to catch one trout that weighed maybe 4 lbs. But they fed us well.  And I was down there with a nice bunch of guys.  And they fed us well.  :D

Snappers? Don't you eat turtle? We catch them on treble hooks with bloody meat and butcher them, flour, brown, and cook them in a slow cooker for around 8-10 hours. Meat falls off the bone.

I've been shooting fish!  With all the spring and summer rains there has been water in many of my duck hunting spots... That water means big carp and buffalo.  I'm new to bowfishing, but it sure has been fun.

Shoot year round 'cept for skeeter season and under 20 degrees, that is for fishing. About another week I figure the skeeters will own the range till this rain quits this summer.

I shoot, hunt and fish all year round as the mood and weather grabs me.  Sometimes I do all three on the same day.  Wind is the biggest factor in determining what to do today.  Sometimes it's just plinking pigeons and starlings around the barn.  Shot the head off a starling yesterday with the .357 at about 45 yards.  They pop around so much, he probably walked into it!!  It's a bitch having to be retired!
Keep both eyes open and make the first shot good.
