Converting 38 super to 9mm or 40 s&w
« on: May 22, 2008, 05:40:28 PM »
What is required to convert a 1911 Govt. 38 Super to 9mm and or 40 s&w?   I just ordered the two barrels and 2 magazines in each caliber and I am now wondering about slide springs and extractors and ejectors required to make the swap outs.  Appreciate any knowledgeable advise out there.

in 9mm you still need a link and pin plus barrel bushing. recoil spring will probably need to be lighter.

for 40S&W you need a new slide, and all small parts.
