Model 70 Barrel Float

My model 70 in 30-06 has always shot just under MOA. In developing my non-lead load my best three shot group was 7/8". The barrel on this rifle (about a 2000 vintage) seems to have a pressure point in the front of the stock. Is this normal for the Model 70? If a pressure point up front is the norm, has anyone free floated their Model 70s? If so, what was the result?

JMO. If you're really getting 100yd groups like that, count your lucky stars - and don't mess with the bedding.

Val - if it ain't broke, don't fix it.   

I have a 1970 vintage M70.  I floated the barrel and bedded the action about 10 yrs ago.  It still groups about 1/2-3/4" at 100 yds with factory ammo.  Handloads are a bit tighter. 

Mine first shot 150-165 gn slugs accurately but didn't like the 180s, which I prefer.  I consdiered that broken so I fixed it.  I don't think your's is broken.  JMTCW.  Mikey.
