270 win and Sierra 90 gr HP got them to shoot
« on: May 25, 2008, 04:06:54 PM »
Well I have read threads on light bullets in the 270 and poor results with the 90 hp.
many have good luck with 110 gr bullets I have also.
I tried the Sierra 90gr HP with poor results before as others have.
Well I got them to shoot today and I am set to load a bunch up now.
I neck turned all my cases rem brand used the primer pocket uniformer as well as flash hole deburr tool
and all are trimmed to the same length. these are shot out of a 24"Encore  barrel I got from tn junk.
the bullets are set way out but still not close to the lands but they shot great.
I could not get these to shoot in my 760 rem but I though I would buy some H 380 and try some loads
for the Encore and I sure am glad I did.
I used 54.5 grains of H380 with cci primer and got one ragged hole for a 3 shot test group today.
at 3390 fps I am real pleased.55.0gr and 55.5 did not do well.
So I just had to post my luck and all the others that could not get the 90 gr Hp Sierra to group you may
want to give the H380 a try and man it meters great also.

Kurt

Neither of my Handi's like the 90s but my Ruger and custom Mauser bolt guns just loves them , i think its the long throat in the H&Rs that makes them shoot like they do , the 130s do great in my Handi's, glad yours likes them , great groundhog and yote bullets .

Glad to hear that. I have loaded and shot the 115's but haven't tried the 90's yet. Will do so now.
