Horton Stag xBow
« on: May 28, 2008, 06:50:30 AM »
My dad gave me a Horton Stag bow that he bought a number of years ago.  He was all pumped to get into xbow hunting but never did.

This is a recurve bow.  Is it adequate for deer?  The arrows are long gone.  Can I get arrows at a local archery shop or is there a better source?

Also, I was just going to put a 2.5X power rifle scope on it.  Is there any real advantage to the custon xbow scopes?

Thanks for any help.

The rifle may or may not hold up to the recoil of the crossbow. Rifle scopes are not designed for the type of recoil from crossbows or high powered air rifles. A crossbow scope is designed for it.

IT should have more then enough energy for deer hunting but remember this is a bow and it is only good out to bow ranges.

Arrows should be available from your local archery store. They are really nothing special just shooter and with a different style of knock. You can build your  own check with Horton and see what style of knock and arrow weight they  recommend using. I use 2219 arrows cut down to 20" and install the recommended flat knocks and use a normal arrow fletcher with a crossbow adapter.
