New 44 Mag/ 12 Ga slug gun

Just pick up my new 44Mag/12 Ga slug gun combo tonight.  This is going to be a very nice bush gun the rifle barrel is 22 inches long so its short and can wheel it around easy.  The slug barrel is 24 inches long and very light.  And the good thing is the slug barrel fits on my tracker II frame like it was made to fit it.  Now I'm just waiting for the Simmons 2.5X scope to get here for the slug barrel.  I mounted a 4X Simmons scope on the 44 barrel.

Going to the range this weekend to check out how they both shoot.

Can you guys post a picture of the barrel on the 12 ga? I am interested in what they did different to drill and tap those over the chambers, they used to tell us that it was too thin. I'm sure others may want to see it also. Does it have the NEW Ultragon rifling? Thanks.

The scope rail on the shotgun barrel does not have any screws in it so must be soldered

I take it that the base is steel? Is the Ultragon rifling rounded and smooth or is it all 45 degree cuts?

If you guys can, please post some pics of the new integral rail. Tim might want one for the FAQ's.

I seen one of the .44 mag/SB1's at Jay's 3 or 4 months ago, it had the new synthetic stock and forend on it, but it wasn't the combo. It did have a bunch of verbiage stamped on the right side of the receiver, can't remember word for word, but was basically a warning about not using any other barrels than the .44/12ga or .357/20ga barrels that were included.

Busta Mine is an old H&R 162 buck model 12ga smoothbore /30-30 combo. I can't wait to hear the 1st range report on the ultragon rifling.

It is differently smoother and does not have the sharp cuts that a normal rifling has.   I will be taking my slug gun to the range next weekend I have had my gun checked out with my local smith.  He laser bored sighted  it at no charge.  Can't wait to get it to the range and put some lead down range.

Range report....

First up is the 12 ga ultragon barreled slug gun.

Shooting 2 3/4 Lightfield Hybred EXP  3 shots to zero.  Next there clover leafed
Shooting Winchester 3 Gold partions this gun likes these 3 holes hard to tell where one start and the others stop
Shooting the Remington Buck hammers 50 ydrs very good one hole 100 yrds spread out to a group of 1 1/5
2 inches.
The 44mag shooting 44 Special
44 Rifle shooting 44 special three shots to zero
44 Rifle Shooting 44 Mag Federal hunting load 240gr 50 yrds group of 2"

I would like to mention this,because I didn't know the difference until I checked into it for my tracker II. The soldering they use is called silver solder. Not the regular solder most people think about. That won't hold. I couldn't find anyone that would do it for me or drill the barrell, which I don't think would be any harm, as long as you drill in the reciever, not the barrell.

Silver solder is among the strongest solders however...Soft solder will work fine on the scope base....From my understanding soft solder is used on older double barrel shotguns and this is why they can't be blued...soft solder has a tensile strength of around around 6,00psi....I have also used the loctite blackmax with good success it is not as strong as the solder but it works...brownells sells silver solder...I have even seen it at lowes recently...I'm not sure if the silver solder will work on an aluminum base....
