painted traps

I have painted some of my new dukes 1/1/2s with flat black and camo colors they look really cool,but my question is can they be waxed and come out ok,i have dyed most of my traps just trying the painting thing,,i will post pics when i can fiugue it out  thanks Dave

 Dave,I know you don't wax over dipped traps, but I know nothing of waxing, painted traps.
 If the paint begins to melt, you will contaminate the wax. You may just want to set the painted ones , as they are.

I'm with tom on this! Use the painted ones on water sets for coon or whatever! Dye & wax your land sets. I would try to stay away from painting coilsprings. Coni's on the otherhand i think it would be fine to paint! But i would still stick with logwood dye or speed dip them! Just a thought! They may look cool to you but the critters don't care! By the time they see them its all over but the crying!

Not trying to rock the boat, but I have painted all my traps with cheap flat black walmart brand paint. I have caught bobcats and coyotes and foxes with it. I have used them waxed and without wax and I prefer them without wax because I don't like  re-waxing traps after they get dirty. I just wash the traps with hunters specialty's scent free body wash to get my scent off them and back to the line they go. But if you are going to use salt antifreeze technique then by all means wax your painted traps to keep them from rusting. I live in Louisiana and I don't have alot of freezing,snow and ice so I don't  often encounter the need for antifreeze techniques.
