Walther's PP 22LR
« on: May 30, 2008, 04:20:34 PM »
I have a PP with matching numbers in 22 LR. From the serial number I have been able to estimate mfg date at 1939. It has Nazi markings and is a very clean pistol, some honest thinning of the bluing, and I shoot occasionally.
My father brought the weapon home from WWII.

Hello...

Although I am not interested in it myself, you have a nice Walther.  I would estimate it from $500 - $700, possibly more, depending on markings.  The .22 caliber Walthers seem to fetch a premium.  I cannot make out what the markings on your pistol are.  In order to get an idea of the value, go to a website like the one Simpson LTD has, to find out what these are going for.  Their address is:  www.simpsonltd.com.  Look under their Walther section.  They have many .22's in varying conditions.

Cheers,
Gary

These pistols are uncommonly encountered but probably not "rare".

Schwing's Standard Catalog of Military Firearms lists a pre-war/wartime .22 PP in VG condition at $600 and Exc at $800.  The 28th Edition of the Blue Book of Gun Values lists a Nazi-proofed .22 PP at $675 for 90% condition, $800 for 95%, and $975 for 98%.  Add another $100 if you have the original holster in decent condition.

Sounds like $600-$700 ought to be about right for just the pistol, but ultimately the market will determine the true value.  Listing it on one of the auction sites will probably net you the most money.

I'd like one but too much for me...probably wouldn't get shot very often....got other .22's that I shoot.
