scope suggestions
« on: May 31, 2008, 01:04:51 PM »
I got a new .204 ultra last week.  Now I need some glass to go on it.  I wasn't looking to spend over $200 dollars on a scope.  I have two simmons whitetail scopes on different rifles.  One mil dot (124.99), one regular (109.99), both 6.5 x20x50.  I like them but thought you guys might have a suggestion.

I am looking at the BSA Optics 8-32x44mm Adj. Objective Platinum Target Scope for my 22-250.  It has great reviews every where I look. I am trying to decide between this one and the Simmons 6.5-20 X50mm Whitetail.  any opinions on this one?

I am sort of cheap. My .204 wears a Barska 6x24 at about $79.

Seems to work.

Funny thing, my 17 Remington FB Handi has a 3-9 Barska, it also is a perfect fit.  Larry

I got a Simmons wtc it's clear and focus at all power setting. You may have to use high rings because of the large objective. the power range of this scope is better for targets than hunting but that may depend on type of cover your hunting. I just reread your post I see you have 2 WTC.  I would just get another WTC if thats been working for you. s

For 50.00 more you can have twice the scope in the bushy legend than you are looking at in any of the BSA's, Barska's, and or Simmons.

I just got a Bushnell Elite 3200 tactical. It is a straight 10X with mil dots and target turrets. It is under your $200 limit. I think it is one of the best scopes you can get for under $200. Some people do not think that 10X is enough, but I find it just about perfect for long distance shooting.

I like it so well, I see at least another one in my future. BTW I have two of the Simmons WTC (about 2 years old) and they do well, but I think the the Bushnell is a better scope.

I have 2 bushnell banners, that I bought after they were recommended by others on this forum.  I am very satisfied with them.   I recently saw a good deal on bushnell trophies.  Any input?  how do they compare to the banner scopes?

what are going to shoot with that 204 ?? to me that make's a difference..when determining what scope i want..i beliieve..it's difficult to get a good higher powered scope in that price range..there are many 3x9 option's in that price range that are great scope's..i'd take better glass over magnification any day..JMO..

I also have a Bushnell Elite 3200 10X with Mil Dot.  I had it on a .338/378 Weatherby Accumark.  The only reason I took it off was I upgraded to a Night Force.

+2  I have it on my Handi .243win that just got sent in for a .223rem barrel.  Scope will be moved :D....

edit:  Just ordered the BSA sweet .223 for that barrel.

SFWA.com has a price $10 less than the midsouthshooterssupply.com price on the Bushnell elite 3200
