While it's a nice idea to have a hard tip so that it can be very sharp for ballistic performance without battering in the magazine, evey one of them I have used have been too explosive to be a reliable game getter. I can remember recovering some Remington bronze points from a snowbank. There was nothing left but shrapnel. I also recovered 22 bullets shot at the same time that looked unfired except for the rifling marks.I had also noticed explosive performance on game , so the remainder of the bronze points killed nothing bigger than prairie dogs. When I tried the Nosler plastic tipped bullets I was already suspicious and right away saw explosive terminal performance so they too shot prairie dogs.
I have the same opinion of the Remington CoreLokts. Since you can buy them at a nice discount I shoot them almost exclusively, but the Winchester Power Points and the original Hornaday, Speer, and Sierras are alll very good too. People are spending way too much $ for bullets that work no better, and some of them are even worse than the old standards.
