This Pastor Has Guts (I agree with him!)

This Pastor Has Guts

It seems prayer still upsets some people. Please read....

When Minister Joe Wright was asked to open the new session of the Kansas Senate, everyone was expecting the usual generalities, but this is what they heard:

'Heavenly Father,
We come before you today
To ask your forgiveness and
To seek your direction and guidance.

We know Your Word says,
'Woe to those who call evil good'
But that is exactly what we have done.

We have lost our spiritual equilibrium
And reversed our values.
We have exploited the poor and
Called it the lottery.

We have rewarded laziness
And called it welfare.

We have killed our unborn
and called it choice.

We have shot abortionists
And called it justifiable.

We have neglected to discipline
Our children and called it
Building self esteem.

We have abused power
And called it politics.

We have coveted our neighbor's
Possessions and called it ambition.

We have polluted the air
With profanity and
Pornography and called it
Freedom of speech and expression.

We have ridiculed the time Honored values of our Forefathers and called it enlightenment.

Search us, Oh, God, And know our hearts today; Cleanse us from every sin
And set us free.

Amen!'
The response was immediate. A number of legislators walked Out during the prayer in protest.

I think they left not just out of protest, but because it hit a little too close to home. Deep down, evil knows what it is.
A government big enough to give you everything you want is strong enough to take everything you have. -Thomas Jefferson

...if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.  -2 Chronicles 7:14

It's a wonder that the protesting legislators didn't have the state police arrest him for preaching intolerance!  The prayer was made in 1966, and actually closed in "Jesus'name, Amen."  Imagine: actually mentioning Jesus in a prayer, how intolerant!

America needs more Joe Wright's!

I think they left not just out of protest, but because it hit a little too close to home. Deep down, evil knows what it is.

And evil cannot stand up to the light.

I hope no one gets this "Samual" of the 21st century confused with the "Jereimiah", preacher of "Baal", just because they have the same last name. Only Joe is right; hopefully his prayers will be answered.

OOps, loose nut behind the keyboard!  I made a mistake, I meant 1996, not 1966 for the date of the prayer. Unfortunately, his prayers haven't been answered yet, they situation has only gotten worse!  I think that God is giving the world enough rope so they can hang themselves real good!
